As soon as the Schoolyear application starts up, a number of checks will take place. One of these is the Network Check. This checks whether Schoolyear can connect to the internet. It is possible that this check fails. There are two possible options:
1. Your laptop is not connected to the internet.
You can notice this by the wifi icon in the bottom right corner of the Schoolyear bar turning red. If this happens, there is then no internet connection. Follow these steps for this:
2. Your laptop is connected to the internet, but a secure connection cannot be made.
You can notice this because an error message is displayed during the Network Check. The error message reads as follows: “We cannot securely reach the internet. A Currently connected to [Name of the Network].”
If you receive this message, you are connected to the network, but Schoolyear cannot make a secure connection. This is usually due to a network-related setting on your computer. The most common causes are:
-
The installation of a VPN connection.
- Close the Schoolyear environment and log in again to Windows.
- Search your PC for VPN connections. Note: not all VPN connections are immediately visible. Search carefully for any hidden VPN connections.
- Disconnect the VPN connection and restart the Schoolyear environment.
-
The installation of a virus scanner.
- Refer to: Blockage by a virus scanner
-
The installation of a firewall or proxy.
- Contact the administrator of the firewall or proxy for this to disable the settings.
Do the above instructions not solve the problem?
