To allow students to perform a Device check, Single Sign On (SSO) is used. In case your organization has not configured SSO, you can use the Email Allowlist functionality to have students perform a device check without using SSO.
How does the email allowlist work?
In the admin console of Schoolyear, you can import a CSV-file containing the emailadress, first name, last name and studentID from student(s). When importing these information, these students will be able to perform a device check by using these credentials.
The student will navigate to check.schoolyear.app and fill in their own email adres. In case SSO is used, the student will be asked to login. Since we are using the email allowlist functionality, the student will not be asked to login, but an email with a magic link will be send to the student. Once the student opens this link from their email, they will be forwarded to the onboarding page to install Schoolyear and complete the device check.
Steps to configure the email allowlist:
- Log in to your Schoolyear account and navigate to the admin console.
- In the menu on the left hand side, select "login settings"
- Select "Email Allowlist in the right top corner
- Enable the email allowlist option.
- Import your CSV-file containing all the requested information.
- From the admin console, you can download a CSV template and replace the data with the accurate information of the student(s).
- Or you can use this Excel template. Note: Once you have entered all the requested information, do not export it to a CSV-file. You will not be able to import an Excel file.
- In case you don't make use of the template, make sure that your created file meets the CSV-specifications. The specific CSV specifications are displayed in the admin console.
- Once you have succesfully imported a CSV file, all the information will be displayed under "allowed students". Click save to finalize the import. All the displayed students can now perform a device check.
IMPORTANT:
Every time you do an import, it replaces the values of the previous imports.
Make sure to save the import file in case you would like to reuse it later.
