To use Schoolyear, an active network connection is required. However, it may happen that during an exam with Schoolyear, a network interruption occurs. Usually, this network connection is automatically restored. In some cases, the student will have to manually reconnect to the network or restart Schoolyear.
Note: If you close Schoolyear, it is possible that the answers will not be synchronized with the testing application, resulting in lost work.
Meaning of wifi icon colours
During the exam, you can find the status of the wifi connection in the Schoolyear bar at the bottom right. In case of a (short) network interruption, the wifi icon will change colors.
- Grey: The wifi connection is stable.
- Orange: Unstable internet connection, the application is trying to connect. Wait until the network stabilizes automatically. If preferred, you can manually switch to a different network.
- Red: No internet connection is available. Restore the wifi connection manually.
Restore a wifi connection
Windows:
- Wait 30 seconds to see if the network automatically restores itself. This is usually the case.
- If this is not the case, click the Wi-Fi icon and manually select the network to connect to. You will see all existing networks that can be connected to.
macOS:
- Wait 30 seconds to see if the network automatically restores itself. This is usually the case.
- If this is not the case, click the Wi-Fi icon. In the pop-up, you will find instructions* for connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
*During the exam, press the 'fn + c' buttons on your keyboard at the same time. By doing this, the Mac control panel will open. Here you can manually connect to a Wi-Fi network.
