Sometimes a student's laptop does not work with Schoolyear. When this happens to only one laptop, the cause is usually related to the laptop itself. For example, a missed browser update or specific settings on the laptop might block the use of Schoolyear. In such a case Schoolyear labels this as an individual laptop problem.
Schoolyear runs exams on thousands of laptops per week and therefore does not have the capacity to address every individual laptop problem. This is why Schoolyear collects all issues and reviews them on a regular basis to see if the same problem occurs more often. If this is the case, then a structural software problem might be the cause and we will start investigating the issue immediately.
We are always happy to receive feedback. Together with feedback from other institutions, this helps to improve Schoolyear.
Tip: prevent individual laptop problems by doing a device check before an exam or organise a trial exam. Together with sufficient back-up computers you avoid surprises during the test.
