This step describes how to link Schoolyear with the key applications used within your institution. Linking can be done in two ways:
Which method of testing does my institution use?
Testing via the integration is the easiest, because it fits in with the way staff and students work, where they always start from the test application. Check here which test applications have integration with Schoolyear. To test via the integration, you must first establish an API link between the test application and Schoolyear.
No integration available for your test application? Then you can create a Whitelist tile via the Schoolyear dashboard. The tile acts as a shortcut that allows you to schedule exams.
With integration: Create API link to test application
Please note: for the action below, you need Admin rights in Schoolyear.
Step-by-step
- Navigate to the Schoolyear dashboard (https://exams.dashboard.schoolyear.app/) and login.
- Go to the profile icon at the top right and choose 'Admin dashboard', then click 'Add-ons' in the left menu bar.
- Choose 'add' to create a new link. Select the LMS or testing application that you want to connect. API keys are generated in these steps. Follow the instruction in the Admin dashboard to create API keys.
-
The Schoolyear integration is achieved by entering Schoolyear API keys in the educational institution's test application account. For some test applications, the institution's ICT administrator can add the API keys themselves, for others the supplier will do this for you. Contact your test application supplier (for Remindo: exam supplier) what applies to you.
After adding, the integration is immediately ready for use. Ready to test!
Without integration: Create Whitelist tile.
Please note: for the action below, you need Admin rights in Schoolyear.
Step-by-step plan
- Log in via https://dashboard.exams.schoolyear.app/ and go to 'Admin dashboard' via the profile icon at the top right.
- You will automatically be taken to the Add-ons page. Choose '+ Add' at the top right of the screen and then '+ Add' behind 'Whitelist tile'.
- Enter the name for the tile and add the URL(s) that students are allowed to see during the exam.
- Then click 'Add' at the top right to save the tile. Your Whitelist start tile is now ready on the homepage. Ready to test!
Note:
Sometimes there are hidden URLs that you don't see but are needed to get to a web page. Examples are redirects from login pages. Does a blockage occur during testing that prevents you from reaching your web page? You can then go to the corresponding Schoolyear dashboard of the exam to find which URL is blocked. You can then add this URL to the tile you just created. Then test whether the blocking is still happening. Repeat this process until all blockages are removed.
