This article describes how to start an exam with Schoolyear from Brightspace Quizzes.
Make sure before you start:
- that all documents are saved. By starting the Schoolyear all running applications will be closed automatically.
- that you have permission to download applications on your computer.
- that you have your login details available.
Step-by-step
- Open a browser which is supported by Schoolyear (see minimal computer requirements) and log in to Schoolyear. How you log in depends on how your institution has set this up.

Navigate to Brightspace and locate the Quiz in which you would like to participate.

When you have opened the correct quiz, launch Schoolyear by clicking on the button in the Description field.
- Click on the "Launch Schoolyear" button. It may be that this is already done automatically for you.
Have you not installed Schoolyear yet? Then click on "Download now".
Read more about how to install Schoolyear using the following instructions: - Now click on "Open" to open the Schoolyear application. It may take a few seconds before the Schoolyear application opens.

- The Schoolyear application will now open. Click on "Launch your Workspace".
Do you have an older version of Schoolyear? Then it will update now. Read here more about how updating works: - The Safe Exam Workspace will now launch and you will arrive at the check page. The checks will be automatically carried out per component.
- When all the boxes turn green you will automatically proceed to the exam. You will be forwarded to the login page of Brightspace. Once you login with your Brightspace account, you can proceed to the exam.

Finished with your exam? Check whether you have submitted the questions. Then you can close the secure environment via the red 'Exit' button.
