Starting a test from JIJ!

This article describes how you as a student can start a test with Schoolyear from JIJ!.

Make sure before you start:

  • that you have performed a device check to identify possible errors. 
  • that all documents are saved. When starting the exam, all open programs will be automatically closed.
  • that you have the rights to download and install applications on your computer.
  • that you have your login details ready.

Step-by-step plan

  1. Open a Schoolyear-supported browser (see minimum computer requirements) and log in to JIJ!. How you log in depends on how your institution has set this up.
     

  2. Choose your test and click on 'Start via Schoolyear'. You will now arrive at the Schoolyear onboarding page.
     

  3. Click on the "Launch Schoolyear" button. It may be that this is done automatically for you. image (4).pngHave you not installed Schoolyear yet? Then click on "Download now".

  4. Now click on "Open" to open the Schoolyear application. It may take a few seconds for the Schoolyear application to open.
    • TIP: Select the checkbox to skip this step next time.image (3).png
       
  5. The Schoolyear application will now open. Click on "Launch your Workspace".
    Do you have an older version of Schoolyear? Then it will update now. Read here more about how updating works:
  6. After clicking on Launch your Workspace" you will be logged out of Windows. Log in again with your own details. As soon as you log in, the secure Schoolyear environment will start immediately.
    • MacOS users will skip this step. Windows_login_screen.png
  7. When opening the secure Schoolyear environment, you will arrive at the check page. The checks will be automatically performed per component.
    Do you receive an error message in one of the components that prevents you from continuing?

  8. Finished with your test? First check if you have submitted the questions in the test application. Then you can close the secure environment via the button at the bottom right 'Close'.
     
  9. You will now be logged out of Schoolyear. When you log in to Windows again, you will return to your desktop. On macOS you will go directly to your desktop. You can continue your work.
