With the logfiles Schoolyear can see the activities of the Schoolyear software on your computer and find the cause of the problem. Sharing the logfiles from your computer might help to solve your laptop problem. Use the steps below to collect both type of logs for Windows of MacOS.
Collect Schoolyear logs on Windows
- Search for the Schoolyear application on your machine. You can type "schoolyear" in the Windows Search bar.
- The Schoolyear home app will open. This will look something like this:
- Click on Export logs in the right bottom corner. The logs will now be exported. This can take a couple of minutes.
- Send these logs to support@schoolyear.com.
Collect Schoolyear logs on MacOS
Step-by-step (macOS) - Schoolyear Logs
- Open Finder.
- Click 'Go' in the navigation bar.
- Hold down the 'Option/Alt' key and click 'Library' that pops up.
- Open the 'Logs' folder.
- Open 'exams-client' in this folder.
- Send these logs to support@schoolyear.com.
Step-by-step (macOS) - Extra Logs
- Open Finder.
- Click 'Go' in the navigation bar.
- Hold down the 'Option/Alt' key and click 'Library' that pops up.
- Open the 'Application Support' folder.
- Open 'exams-client' in this folder.
- Open 'Crashpad" and send these logs as zip file to support@schoolyear.com.
Manually collect Schoolyear Logs on Windows
Step 1: Schoolyear Logs
- Open the Explorer (the folder icon in the taskbar).
- Type '%AppData%' in the address bar
- Open the folder 'exams-client'.
- Send this folder to support@schoolyear.com.
Step 2: Crashdump Logs
- Open the Explorer (the folder icon in the taskbar).
- Typ %localappdata% in the address bar.
- Open the folder 'Crashdumps'
- Send this folder to support@schoolyear.com.
Step 3: Background service logs
- Open the program 'Event viewer'.
- Unfold the menu on the left. Choose 'Windows logs' > 'Applications'.
- On the right-hand side, click on the filter icon 'filter current log...'. A pop-up appears.
- Filter for the timeframe the incident appeared.
- At the right of your screen click 'save filtered logfile as...'.
- Save the file. Choose the title Background service logs [student name] [student number].
- Send this folder to support@schoolyear.com.
