Schoolyear offers a seamless integration with Brightspace, allowing you to secure your quizzes with ease. This guide will walk you through the process of installing and configuring the Schoolyear on your Brightspace instance.
Step by step guide:
Step 1: Navigate to the admin console of Schoolyear
- Go to the admin console and open the add-ons.
- Click on "add" and select the Brightspace Add-on
- Follow the displayed instructions on the screen.
Step 2: Add to Course
Once you have finished Step 1 you can continue to add the Schoolyear integration to your desired courses. By using a course template that instructors can use, you can simplify this setup. However, for existing courses, you must follow these steps:
- Navigate to the course for which you want to enable Schoolyear
- Hover over the navigation bar and click the three dots.
- Under "Links", click "Add Links".
- Name: Safe Exam Workspace
- Click "Create custom link", then "Insert Quicklink", then "External Learning Tools".
- Search for "Schoolyear" and click it.
- Back in the "Create Custom Link" popup, set "Behaviour" to "Same Window".
- Under "Availability", check "Limit to specific roles" and select the following roles:
- Super Administrator
- Administrator
- Designer
- Instructor
- Facilitator
- Click "Create", then "Add"
- Now you can drag "Safe Exam Workspace" to whichever position on the navigation bar makes sense in your course.
- Click "Save and Close".
- Now, "Safe Exam Workspace" should be part of the navigation bar of the course. Create an exam to see them appear on this newly created page.
[Optional*] Step 3: Add your SSO-login page to the global whitelist in the admin console
- Collect all the login URLs.
- Note: If you are using Microsoft, it could look something like this https://login.microsoftonline.com
- Note: It could be that multiple URLs are required and this varies per institution.
- Go to the admin console and navigate to organisation settings.
- Go to global whitelsist and add the URL here.
- Click Save.
*this step is only required if you use SSO for students to login to your Brightspace environment. These URLs are blocked by default as Schoolyear does not know these URLs.
