Configuration of Secure Apps is only required if your institution also wants to use desktop applications during exams. If you only use the Safe Exam Workspace for web-based exams, this configuration is not required.
Note: A separate license for Secure Apps is required.
Follow these steps if you have a license for the Schoolyear AVD add-on:
- Step 1: Ensure that the setup of your institution’s Azure tenant is completed. For this, you should use the documentation on the website: https://avd.schoolyear.com
- Step 2: In the admin console, you can then set up the AVD add-on. The instructions for the AVD add-on can also be found on the documentation website. Make sure you also configure the quotas.
- Step 3: After configuring the add-on and quotas, it is also important to enable notifications for the installed AVD add-on. If a deployment is not successful, a notification will be sent so the deployment can be redone. Read this article to learn how to activate this.

Follow these steps if you have a license for Schoolyear Cloud:

Step 1: Contact Schoolyear Support to activate Schoolyear Cloud. All standard tiles of Schoolyear Cloud will be activated.
- Note: For some applications, a connection with the institution’s license server is necessary. Contact Schoolyear support for instructions.
- Step 2: If the configuration of standard apps is not sufficient and there are desires for adjustments, a Custom Image for Schoolyear Cloud can be uploaded. Follow these steps: Custom Secure Apps Image.
